Pizzelle Party!
December 2016

Pizzelle Recipe - based on King Arthur Flour’s Recipe  http://www.kingarthurflour.com/recipes/classic-pizzelle-recipe
Ingredients - Makes 2 dozen3 large eggs
¾ cup sugar

⅜ teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon vanilla

1 teaspoon anise (optional)

1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour

2 teaspoons baking powder

½ cup (8 Tablespoons) melted butter

(optional) powdered sugar

InstructionsMelt ½ cup butter in a small pan over low flame. Set aside.
In large bowl, crack eggs and mix with sugar until combined.
Add salt, vanilla and baking powder and blend in.
Add flour in small amounts, beating well each time.
Add the melted butter to this mixture, a little at a time, mixing until smooth. The batter will be thick and soft.
Heat your pizzelle iron. It is ready when the light indicates. If there is no light, put a drop of water on it to test. It is ready when the water sizzles. The batter will be stiffened now. This is fine.
Take a tablespoon of batter and pour into the center of the pizzelle iron. Gently close.Cook the pizzelle about 45 seconds(COUNT THE SECONDS!)  or until golden brown.
Remove the pizzelle gently from the iron with a fork. Place on a rack. If desired, use a pair of scissors to trim any ragged edges.
Dust cooled pizzelle with confectioners' sugar, if desired.
